| The Honorable
HERNANDO PEREZ |
| Secretary |
| Department of
Justice |
Batangas is a province blessed with breathtaking panoramic sights, rich
grazing lands and beautiful shorelines. It is also blessed with hardworking and brave
people; men and women who have contributed immensely in shaping up the history of the
country, among them the sublime paralytic Mabini, the great nationalist Claro Mayo Recto,
the Agoncillos and the Laurels.
At the rate he is going, Secretary Perez, concurrent Secretary of
Justice, three-time Congressman, and former Deputy Speaker of the House may yet join the
roster.
"NANI", as he is fondly called, finished his elementary,
secondary and pre-law education at the University of Batangas. He then transferred to the
Ateneo de Manila from where he took his Bachelor of Laws and Masters in Business
Administration all the while as a consistent scholar.
As a public servant, Sec. Perez is a cut above the rest. He epitomizes
the alternative politician: prudent, unwavering yet soft-spoken and calm. He was
consistently adjudged one of the Ten Outstanding Congressmen for nine straight years by
the Asia Research System, The Privilege Hour, the Unified Movement Media, Congresspost,
Pillars of the New Republic and the Metropolitan Disseminators of Information Association.
He is also a law professor, Senior Law Partner of the Balgos and Perez
Law Offices, radio commentator and writer. He has authored books on the Insurance Code,
the Insolvency Law, the Negotiable Instruments Law and other commercial law subjects.
Sec. Perez is married to the former Rosario Salvador of Batangas with
whom he is blessed with four children, Francisco Perez II, Ana Marie S. Perez-Castro,
Ronald S. Perez and Hernando S. Perez Jr., who are accomplished in their own rights as
well. |
