President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrived this morning from Madrid
after winding up successful official visits to the Vatican City, the Republic of Italy,
and the Kingdom of Spain.
The week-long official travel of the
President centered on boosting trade, investment, tourism, labor and other aspects of
diplomatic relations between the Philippines and three of its major partners in Europe.
The President, who wore an emerald green
dress, disembarked from the chartered Philippine Airlines flight No. 001 at around 9:45
a.m. at the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (PAW) in Villlamor Air Base, Pasay
City, together with her entourage composed of some members of her family, other government
officials, and a delegation of businessmen
Among those who met the President as she
stepped on the tarmac were Vice President Noli de Castro, Executive Secretary Eduardo
Ermita, Political Adviser Gabriel Claudio, Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, Presidential
Management Staff Chief Arthur Yap and Philippine National Police Director General Arturo
Lomibao.

Chief of Staff Gen. Generoso Senga accompanied the President during her review of the
troops who accorded their commander-in-chief full arrival honors.
The President was then ushered into the
Presidential Lounge of the PAW where she was welcomed by employees and staff of both PAW
