| President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo awards the Presidential Medal of Merit to Alberto Florentino, a renowned Filipino playwright, during the presentation of citations which highlighted the "Coffee with the Filipino Community Leaders" hosted by the President Wednesday night (Sept. 26, New York time) at the Waldorf Astoria Towers in New York City. Florentino has garnered numerous awards not only as a playwright, starting with a Palanca Award for his very first play in 1954, but also as an editor and publisher.
