| PGMA's Statement during the Briefing on the School Opening Preparations |

| I assure the parents of the
country's students that the preparations and security for the opening of classes for this
school year are all in place. I congratulate the DepEd, CHED officials who are working
closely with pertinent government agencies to carefully plan out the opening of classes
this year, especially in terms of law and order, traffic, and readiness of transport and
school facilities. I ask the DepEd, CHED and DOH to continually assess and implement measures to improve the quality of education in the secondary and tertiary levels; deal fairly and conscientiously the tuition hike issues; and make sure our students are protected against the threat of SARS and other illnesses.
