PGMA's Statement during her visit to the NDCC Headquarters

NDCC headquarters, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City (03 December 2004)

I'd like to call this meeting to order. Can we have some silence please.

I'd like to begin with a soundbite that we can share for the whole country:

It's a time for the country to come together. For individuals to do heroic deeds together. For everyone to help in whatever way for all to reach out to those who need help. This tragedy will unite this country, together as one nation we will rise from the devastation.

I'm grateful to all those who've poured their hearts and energies into this effort - our government workers, volunteers, the media, the uniformed services and the unamed heroes from all levels of the national community.

This is a time tos how ourselves and to show the world the solidarity, resiliency and the self-reliance and communities that can clasp hands to meet misfortune.

The manpower and resources of government are stretched thinly, but i'm proud that volunteers and private resources have filled the gap.

We need one great heave to deliver the relief supplies, find the missing, rescue the isolated, feed thehugnry and shelter the homeless.

Let's do it now with unity of mind and purpose we can muster as one nation and one people.

Thank you.
